LEARN THE SKILLS TO PROVIDE A SUICIDE FIRST-AID INTERVENTION

Become confident, willing, ready and able to intervene with someone who has thoughts of suicide.

For All Seasons’ Center for Learning is pleased to partner with Santé Eastern Shore to offer LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). This two-day workshop includes interactive learning, hands-on practice, and real-world application exercises.

You will learn to:
• Develop a safety plan to keep someone safe-for-now and connect

them with further help
• Talk openly about personal and community attitudes and suicide
• Build confidence and capacity in providing suicide first-aid

All Needed Materials

Participating clinicians will receive 12 Category I CEUs, issued by For All Seasons, Inc.,

an approved continuing education provider for Maryland Social Workers and Professional Counselors.

COURSE LEARNING GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Participants will:
Learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and take steps to support

them.
Develop the ability to provide suicide first aid and create a safety plan.
Improve confidence and competence in suicide intervention strategies.
Understand how attitudes about suicide influence intervention approaches.
Gain insights into community resources and support networks to sustain long-term suicide

prevention efforts.

Core Components of the Training:
Understanding Suicide Risk:

- Recognizing warning signs and understanding factors that contribute to suicide.
Suicide First Aid Training:

- Hands-on practice using the Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) model for intervention.
Community-Based Intervention:

- Strengthening connections to crisis resources and community mental health services.
Applied Learning:

- Role-play exercises, case scenarios, and small group discussions for skill-building.
Sustainability:

- Strategies for ongoing application of ASIST skills in personal, professional, and community settings.

PROGRAM LOGISTICS

This training is for...

  • The workshop is designed for all caregivers (any person over age 15 in a position of trust), including:
    Mental health professionals, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, teachers, counselors, youth workers, police and correctional staff, school support staff, clergy, and community volunteers.

This in-person program will take place over two consecutive days in Easton, MD.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, beverages, and snacks will be provided to participants each day of the training program.

Dinners are not included in the program participation fee.

Registration Fee

To secure the participant’s spot, the registration fee of $350 is due at time of enrollment.

Note: Because this training is grant-funded, For All Seasons is required to report program outcomes. Participants will be asked to complete multiple choice surveys before the training begins and following the training’s completion.
